Record serial labor for shop floor employees

Serial processing of direct labor lets you record several short-run jobs that an employee performs at the same work center, without having to select a start or end time for each job. You can record serial labor for your shop floor employees.

To record serial labor for shop floor employees

  1. Open the Daily Labor (LABR) page.

    • Select Production Management > Production Transactions > Shop Floor > Daily Labor.

      Or

    • Search for LABR or Daily Labor in the Navigation box and then select Daily Labor.

      The Daily Labor (LABR) page appears.

  2. To add an employee’s labor for a new date:

    • On the toolbar, click New.

    • Click the Employee Number lookup reference.

      The Lookup For Employee Number window appears.

    • Select the required row and click Select. Or double-click the employee.

      Click Cancel to exit from the Lookup For Employee Number window.

    • In the Date box, enter the date on which the shift started. Or, click the Calendar icon to display the calendar. Select an appropriate date.

    • On the toolbar, click Save.

  3. Or to add labor for an employee on an existing date:

    • On the toolbar, click Browse.

      The Browse For Daily Labor window appears.

    • Select a row and click Select. Or double-click the employee and date that matches the date in which the shift started.

      Click Cancel to exit from the Browse For Daily Labor window.

    • On the toolbar, click New.

      The Create New Daily Labor window appears.

  4. Click Serial in the Labor Type section and click Accept.

    Or click Cancel to exit from the Create New Daily Labor window.

  5. Set work center information:

    • Click the arrow to select the Facility.

      Click the Open Linked Screen at the beginning of Facility box to either add a new value or modify the existing value.

    • Click the Work Center lookup reference.

      The Lookup For Work Center window appears.

    • Select the required row and click Select. Or double-click the work center for which to post labor.

      Click Cancel to exit from the Lookup For Work Center window.

    • In the Elapsed Time box, enter the amount of total time it took to perform the operation.

      Or, enter the start and end dates and times of the operation in the Serial Start Date & Time and Serial End Date & Time boxes. Or click the icon at the end of the Serial Start Date & Time and Serial End Date & Time fields to display the calendar. Select an appropriate date.

    • In the Shift box, enter the shift number in which the labor was performed.

    • On the toolbar, click Save to keep the labor entry.

  6. Set information about each of the jobs the employee worked on:

    • Click New on the child toolbar.

    • Click the Job Number lookup reference.

      The Lookup For Job Number window appears.

    • Select the required row and click Select to select a job order number for the operation. Or, double-click the row.

      Click Cancel to exit from the Lookup For Job Number window.

    • Click the Operation Number lookup reference.

      The Lookup For Operation Number window appears.

    • Select a row and click Select to select the operation number for the labor performed. Or double-click the operation number for which to post the labor.

      Click Cancel to exit from the Lookup For Operation Number window.

  7. Set other information about the operation:

    • In the Quantity Complete and the Quantity Scrapped boxes, enter the quantity completed towards the job order and the quantity scrapped towards the job order. Or click the icon at the end of Quantity Complete and Quantity Scrapped fields to display the calculator. Select an appropriate value.

      For serial labor, all job order entries must report quantities or all entries must report a quantity of zero (0).

    • Click the Production or Setup radio button to indicate if this labor is part of production or setup.

    • If this labor is rework of the job order, select the Rework checkbox.

    • Select the Auto Complete Operation checkbox to automatically complete the status of this operation, even if the quantity completed is less than the quantity to go, .

    • Select the Lead Person checkbox, if this employee is the lead person for this operation.

    • Select the Lead Person checkbox to post the quantity complete or record overhead costs associated with this employee.

    • Select the Overtime checkbox, if work for the operation is overtime,

    • Click the Earnings Code lookup reference.

      The Lookup For Earnings Code window appears.

    • Select the row and click Select to select a code that describes the earnings. Or, double-click to select the row.

      Click Cancel to exit from the Lookup For Earnings Code window.

    • On the toolbar, click Save.

  8. To return to the main Daily Labor page, click the Direct\Indirect tab.
