Check for recursion in a bill of material

Recursion results when you add a part to the bill of material that is the same as the parent part.

To check for recursion in a bill of material

  1. Open the Standard BOMs (BOM) page.

    • Select Production Management > Master Data > Standard BOMs.

    Or

    • Search for BOM or Standard BOMs in the Navigation box and then select Standard BOMs.

    THe Standard BOMs (BOM) page appears.

  2. On the Toolbar, click Browse.

    The Browse For Standard BOMs window appears.

  3. Select a row and click Select. Or, double-click the bill of material to check.

    Click Cancel to exit from Browse For Standard BOMs window.

  4. Click the Validate Now on the child toolbar.

    A message, ‘This process may be time consuming. Do you wish to continue?’ appears.

  5. Click Yes to continue.

    Or click No to cancel.

    Made2Manage lets you know when it detects recursion. Ensure the part numbers in the bill of material are correct.
