Insights
The Insights module provides a centralized hub for accessing critical business data within AppCentral. It empowers you to review key performance indicators (KPIs) and gain valuable insights for more informed decision-making. This section explains prerequisites, activation steps, navigation features, and how to create or edit reports.
Ensure that you have access to your Azure tenant.
Aptean Business Intelligence (BI) integrates securely with your Aptean ERP system through your Azure tenant. It supports both strategic and operational decisions by offering advanced analytics, customizable reporting, and real-time data visualization. These capabilities help you improve decision-making and drive business initiatives.
Activating the Insights Module
The first time you navigate to the Insights area, you must activate the BI module:
- Navigate to Insights from the main application menu.
- On the initial screen, click the Activate BI button.

- The module activates and opens the Insights dashboard.
Once activated, you can view and interact with BI reports directly from the dashboard.
Navigating the Insights UI
After activation, the Insights page displays a dynamic dashboard for viewing and interacting with your data.
Core Dashboard View
- Report Selection: Use the Report dropdown menu at the top of the dashboard to select a prebuilt report.
- Data Visualizations: The main body of the dashboard displays interactive KPIs, charts, and tables:
- KPIs (e.g., Total Payable Amount)
- Charts (e.g., Total Account Payable by Year and Month)
- Tables (e.g., Vendor Summary by Aging)
- Last Refreshed: A timestamp in the top-right corner shows when the data was last updated.
Management and Settings
- The gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner opens the management menu.
- Options include:
- Products: Manage your Aptean product integrations.
- Reports: Manage available BI reports.
Products Page
- Lists integrated Aptean products and their activation status.
- Activate/Reactivate: Enable or re-enable BI features.
- History: View activation history.
- View Reports: Access reports for a product directly.
Reports Page
- Lists all available BI reports and their semantic models.
- Name: Report name.
- Semantic Model Name: Underlying data model.
- Permissions: Manage user access.
- Synchronize: Refresh the report list or update configurations.
Creating and Editing Reports
The toolbar at the top of the Insights dashboard allows you to work with reports:
- Full Screen: Expand the report view for detailed analysis.
- Export: Save reports to a file (PDF or PowerPoint).
- View: Change the display settings of the report.
- Subscribe: Set up email subscriptions to receive automated report snapshots.
- Alerts: Define data-driven alerts for specific conditions.
- Info: View additional details about the report.
- Edit: Modify the report layout and data visualizations (available for users with permissions).
Filtering Data
Use the Filters pane on the right side of the dashboard to refine displayed data:
- Search for a specific filter.
- Select values from a filter dropdown (e.g., Company Name).
- The report updates automatically to reflect your filter selections.
